i'm a feral goat every fifth wednesday.

in less mysterious happenings, we need to start videotaping our practices. james, piatt, and myself have only played together a few times in the last month, but the new songs (not stuff on leave the poor people alone, newer than that) are sounding retarded. it's another pretty huge departure from what we've done in the past, and we like it. it's noisy, but not loud. messy, but tight. dangerous, but poppy. meandering, but straight forward.

we have at least another album's worth of material that we'll be recording at our home studio this winter. full length number three, no name yet. we might be releasing it under a new band name.

a gentleman named thad parnell is working on a classy video for 'licking on my mold'. there's a live/studio footage split screen collage type video for 'in the ocean' that i'm putting together myself, wish me luck.

oh, and i think we're going to play some regional shows as a three piece, probably wichita, omaha, springfield, kc, lawrence, nothing big. piatt on drums/vox. james on guitar/vox, and same for me. no bass, just turn up the guitars, that works.

all the mixing isn't done yet, but a few songs are done.

this one's called 'in the ocean'. (on our myspace) it's about realizing that nothing you're doing matters, you'll soon be a footnote, which will soon be forgotten, it's about realizing that you're about as important as a single molecule of salt in the ocean.

it's a story album, and this song will be in the middle somewhere. it's a down point in the character's emotional state. he's feeling like his attempted revolution is going nowhere, people are crapping out on him, and the pressure to do something huge or stop trying is becoming too much to handle gracefully.

we've (me and james mostly) been recording lots of overdub parts here at the house, and all day today i'll be bouncing those tracks out to new 24 bit wav files, fun stuff, not really, but the ends will hopefully justify the bouncing. i'm sure justin at chapman can take the crap i've recorded here at the house and make the mix work better than i can.

a few days ago, our friends steve and sheryl came in and played cello and violin on a new song. it's pretty dope, i'll post that one pretty soon probably. it's just acoustic, vox, cello, and violin so it shouldn't take too long to mix it. it'll probably take longer to give the song a name than mix it.

speaking of naming and things of that nature, in a hungover/death state saturday i may have come up with the greatest band name of all time, but for some reason, even knowing i'd forget it, i didn't write it down. maybe it wasn't that great. it feels like it may have been the one but i was too sick and too lazy to write it down. oh well, since i don't know what it was, i'll just assume it was a shitty name that i would have laughed about later anyway.

it's over and done with. not forever, but for a long while.

and not a moment too soon. as i was driving home after taking back the uhaul, my clutch went all the way to the floor. a tow truck took the car to a repair shop. i'm carless all week while they get the part.

but the elantra handled itself well, got us home from our last out of town show before she broke down. that was thoughtful of her.

so, anyway, we're done playing shows this year.

it will be a nice break from spending all our free time in cars and bars.

we recorded the basic tracks of our new album with justin mantooth at chapman last thursday. i'm doing vocals and feedback guitars at the house with james.

then i'll be taking those tracks back to justin so he can do a final mix.

that album, and another one i'm working on, along with a solo EP from james (with piatt playing drums), will all be released sometime in the winter, with a full blown east coast tour supporting them in the spring.

that is all. josh

7.20.07

i've been horrible about writing stuff up here lately, but lots has been going on.

there's a little recap of our trip to austin a few weeks ago here, i meant to do more tour blogging over the last few months, but never got around to it.

last night, we were at chapman recording with justin mantooth until about 8 in the am.

we recorded ten songs, didn't have time to do the acoustic ones so i'll be doing them at my house. the big thing last night was making sure the drums were done right, and they were, i just listened to the rough mix justin bounced for us and it sounds like i'd hoped it would. justin is highly recommended.

i'm recording vocals at home, doing some more guitars with james, then bringing all that back to justin to mix. our friend dizzle was videotaping a lot of what happened last night, so i'll post some video and, within a week, some rough mixed audio.

we're playing saturday night in stl at the wayout club if you're into that kind of thing. love/josh

12.14.06

there's been lots of things happening i guess.

we have about fifteen songs for the new album that are totally written. it's a concept album or something like that, a story i guess. a story in album form.

i'll be recording acoustic versions of most of the new songs shortly, when they're done, i'll post a few of them up here. they're a lot different than the songs we have up here right now. hopefully we'll all be able to get together and record the new album by the end of january. i might end up just playing bass myself, and finding someone to play the parts live later.

we're in the market for a new bass player.

trevis is too busy and lives too far away,
so he's decided not to be in the band anymore.

David Solomon is working on a new video of our trip to Austin last month, and i've got lots of live footage here to upload, so there will be new videos soon, or whenever it happens i guess.

here's an article from about a month ago in the Wichita City Paper.

we're back from austin,
and my fucking knees are wrecked.
riding five deep in a hyundai elantra
was pretty tight.

thanks to everyone that came out to the shows, and the people that booked/promoted the shows for us.

specifically:

tyler for putting on an awesome show in duncan.
david for coming with us to film.
dino for putting us up in stlye in austin.
b mash for rolling out.
chubbs for being chubbs.
phillip for the hospitality.
opposite day for booking room 710 for us.

we only have one more show this year. it's at the replay lounge in lawrence on my birthday,
friday, the 17th, of november.

it's also the birthday of joey, of My Robot Has A Soul fame. not only were we born on the same day, we were birthed in the same year.

as joey puts it:

"I mean, we're practically Identical twins. my first memory in life is giving that dude a high five as we simultaineously splashed out of our respective mother's vagina's." ~joey

we'll have pictures, videos, and stories
from the trip to austin relatively soon.

love/josh.

i just voted and this is how i felt about it

that's me, hacking up bile. this picture is from sunday morning after our wichita show with thunder le boom and joey from my robot has a soul, but it's pretty reminiscent of how i felt when i went to vote today.

i voted at an elementary school that was right next to a church, and of course the church had tons of political signs of various levels of stupidity. the most ridiculous being the "vote no on cloning" signs (yep, that's it, if amendment two passes, there will be clone wars by next week). if human cloning does become a reality in the near future, i hope no one clones conservative fucking christians.

i voted for mccaskill (not too cool, but better than fucking jim talent), yes on the stem cell amendment, and no on the cigarette tax.

our political system is pretty much fucked. money runs the show. and as the quote that's often attributed to Stalin goes - "it's not who votes that counts, it's who counts the votes". i was pretty uninspired by any of my choices, but i voted for the lesser of two evils today. i'm not proud of it. and there's a decent chance that somewhere along the line, my vote won't count anyway.

Saturday we played with our new guitar player, gavin, for the first time. It was wonderful. Thanks to everyone that played with us and everyone that came out. It ended up being a really cool night.

09.29.06

thank you, thank you, thank you...

last night's show was more fun than i've had at a show in a while. thanks to everyone that came out, you guys were great. everything really clicked. it was, in my opinion, the best show we've had since bret left the band and trevis started playing bass.

tonight we're finally getting together to play some new songs i've been working on. we haven't had a practice in months and months, we just get together and play shows. so tonight will be nice, hopefully we'll play a new song at the show tomorrow night.

love/josh

09.20.06

hmmmmm, what's new? we have a new guitar player, i won't say who he is, but he's better than me, has nicer gear than me, and is better looking than me.

Jameson Piedimonte recorded part of our last show at the American Icehouse in Kansas City, we put a live version of Leave That Over There in the download section. you can also download it by clicking here

09.08.06

Piatt, Piatt, Piatt. Sorry kids, but we have to back out of the all ages show in Lawrence tonight, Piatt is having emergency dental surgery. Sounds like fun, right?

So our next show is going to be Piatt's birthday show at Mike's Tavern in KC. It's one of my favorite places to play, hopefully you can make it out, it's a 21+ show.

08.22.06

Hi. How have you been? good. glad to hear it.

Let's see, there's been a ton of shit going on, here's what i can remember.

We have new fancy ass spraypainted t shirts and posters thanks to djg design. They'll be available at all the new shows we just booked.

After taking August off, we're looking at a very busy rest of the year. On the schedule: about 25 or 30 shows and the recording of our second album.

Well, i know i'm forgetting all kinds of stuff, but oh well, come to a show, we can talk more then.

07.25.06

A man by the name of d. Solomon has blown our minds with his video editing skills. He's super sexy too. Go give him money, sex, whatever it is he wants.

He took a bunch of the footage from our last mini tour and made a video out of it. It's in the video section. It's called Manufacturing Dissent.

07.11.06

We just posted some new videos in the videos section. A video from Dallas, one from Lawton, and one from Springfield.

There's been some people asking about unreleased material. We have lots. I posted an acoustic version of the song 'Culture Hole' in the downloads section (at the bottom). I also uploaded 'You Taste So Nice' last year's self titled EP.

If you are involved in e-friendship, our myspace page is right here. And I almost forgot, we're having Lawrence and KC CD Release Parties next week. We're giving away a lot of free stuff, so come out and party with us. Details are in the shows section.

07.03.06

There's a guitar/bass tabulature section coming soon. The bass tabs are already done.

Check it out.

06.29.06

There's a tour blog posted on our myspace.

You can check it out here.

Expect videos and more photos early next week.

06.26.06

Well, I don't know where to start really. There's a ton of people to thank and a ton of stories to tell. We got back from the minitour a few days ago and i'm finally feeling fairly healthy again. I don't know how people that scream can tour more than a few weeks at a time. When we got home I could hardly talk. My throat was shot.

Special thanks to Trevor for coming out and playing bass with us on tour. Bret couldn't make it, but Trevor filled in admirably, especially on such short notice. He figured out all the songs a few weeks before we left.

I'm working on a tour blog with pictures and video. Hopefully I'll be able to finish that up by the end of the week.

For now, thanks to:
Thunder le Boom, Novacaine Promotions, Pleasure Seeking Animals, The Outland, Four State Shows, The Villins, Erin, Phillip...

06.14.06

Well, I think we have everything ready for the mini-tour. So barring any unforseen tragedy (these happen to us all the time) we'll be visiting Wichita, Lawton, Dallas, Fayetteville, and Springfield in the next week.

Then we're coming back up to KC and playing a show Saturday night at Mike's Tavern with some really amazing bands, Thunder le Boom & My Robot Has A Soul. It's a 21+ show, but if you're of age and in town it'll be a show you won't regret going to, promise.

06.05.06

Thanks to everyone that came out to our shows this weekend. I can see The Icehouse turning into THE all ages place in town within 6 months. It's so new right now that not a lot of people know about it but those guys have their shit together and the venue is awesome, and huge.

Salina was more fun than we were expecting. It was our first time there and everyone was really cool, although there were way too many cops in that town.

And of course, playing the Sunday night Homegrown Buzz show at Jerry's in Lenexa is always a lot of fun. The Stolen Winnebagos (the best cover band of all time) were amazing as usual last night.

5.16.06

Find Yourself Getting Lost is now available at Prospero's Books.

They have an awesome vinyl collection, great books, cool staff, and a large selection of local music. They also host live music and even shut down the street outside for concerts every once in a while. It's a place worth checking out.

Last night at Davey's Uptown was too much fun. Tildan did an awesome job on the sound. The Follow and Alice were excellent. Good time had by all.

I added a few new sections to the website: press and videos. Hope you like it. Feel free to use the forum here or talk to us on myspace.

Well, the show Saturday at the Bottleneck was kind of messy. No soundcheck, crackling cables, monitor issues.

Technical difficulties aside, we had a great time. Nico and Scotty from Sidewise came out and Nico sang the Kim Deal part on "Where is my mind?" by the Pixies.

It was tight, mucho tight. Hopefully we'll have some new shows booked with Sidewise sometime in the near future. Those guys bring a sick act.

4-10-06

Just wanted to thank everyone that came out to the show at The Grand Emporium on Saturday. It was packed. We really appreciate you guys coming out.

4-05-06

It's true. The CDs are finally pressed and in our possession.

As soon as I fill out some paperwork, the CD will be available on Amazon.com, CDBaby.com, iTunes, Rhapsody.com, and Borders.com.

In the Kansas City area, the CD will be carried by Streetside Records, 7th Heaven, Recycled Sounds, CD Warehouse, and some Best Buys.

The CD will still be available on our website as a free download, but i'm sure you realize that unless some people buy it we can't keep touring and making more CDs. We're not rich. We're usually totally broke.

Also, if you download the album, you won't have the beautiful artowk that was created for the album by brian maschler of digital bbq creative in Austin, TX.

If you want a CD, they'll be available at all of our shows. Or you can mail $10 for a CD (shipping included) to:

Bodisartha
210 SE Circleview Drive
Lee's Summit, MO 64063

Thanks to everyone that helped us get the CD together and all the people that have been coming out to our shows. We appreciate the support and hope to someday quit our day jobs.

Thanks to everyone that came out to the show at Mike's Tavern last night. I can't believe how many people showed up. I'm sure the article in The Pitch had something to do with it. We had a retarded awesome time. The sound guy, Justin, did a killer job.

2-27-06

Our show tomorrow in St Louis at Cicero's will go on without us. There was a tragic death in our immediate family on Saturday. The Cicero's show has been rescheduled - May 23rd.

2-10-06

Last night's show at The Brick was a lot of fun. Thanks to those of you that made it out. The Extraordinaires were fantastic. We may be hooking up with them in Charlottesville VA for a show this summer. Good guys.

And by the way, we're cutting out the middle man in the music piracy game. You can download our new album in its entirety on the downloads page. Knock yourself out.
